Lessons for life: Flying in the Siachen | Group Captain Nitin Welde (Retd) | TEDxSCAC

Group Captain Nitin Welde (Retd) in his talk draws insights from his time spent flying in the Siachen Glacier. He presents his experiences in the form of lessons that prove, given the correct work environment, an average performer can reach extraordinary heights. Group Captain Nitin Welde is a veteran from Indian Air Force. He has more than 5200 hrs. of flying experience in a career of 22 years. He has served in all parts of the country including North East India and Siachen Glacier. He has been an instructor in Air Force Academy and at prestigious Flying Instructors’ School. He is a category A flying instructor and has led a training team to Namibia. He completed his Command and Staff course in Indonesia and was adjudged as best foreign student officer amongst officers from eight different countries. He undertook a life-saving mission in J& K valley for which he was awarded a gallantry award by President of India in Jan 2012. He commanded a combat-ready helicopter unit in Delhi area and his unit took an active part during floods in Uttarakhand and Srinagar. Group Captain Nitin Welde is very passionate about leadership development and behavioural science.
