Erik Pavia explains how as both desert and frontier, the El Paso region provokes newness and presents opportunities and challenges to the immigrants and pioneers that the area is comprised of. Living in the desert exposes the community to scarcity and harsh elements which teach valuable lessons that encourage entrepreneurship.
Erik Pavia has a BBA from The University of Texas at El Paso and a law degree from Stanford University. He gained insight into the startup world as a volunteer at Start X, Stanford’s accelerator program. This led him to the founders of Knotch, Inc., an ad analytics startup company where he became head of operations.
He returned to El Paso as an adjunct professor at UTEP where he teaches a business law course focused on new tech ventures. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
