Building a Better Classroom: Just Ask “Why Not?” | Phoenix Dalto | TEDxFieldstoneDriveED

My talk focuses on the simple ways that teachers and students alike can strengthen classrooms. Rather than discussing controversial, policy/curriculum-based issues, I speak about the importance of communication, relationship building, and just caring in general. These aspects of our approach to education are what will bring learning back into the classroom. More important than explaining all the “whys”, I am looking to challenge people by asking “why not?”.
Phoenix Dalto is a high school student in the North Rockland Central School District. Phoenix is the vice-president of the National Honor Society and he is also part of the Leadership Council at the high school. Phoenix is always looking for the opportunity to change the conversation around education and create a better learning experience for students and teachers alike. Phoenix Dalto is the 2019 valedictorian for North Rockland High School. He will be attending Yale University in the fall. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
